NP Receives The US Surgeon Generals Medallion for Contribution to US Health

Dr. Loretta Ford,  EdD, RN, PNP, NP-C, CRNP,FAAN, FANNP received the US Surgeons Generals Medallion for Contributions to US Public Health in December 2020 on her 100th Birthday.  In 1965 she developed the first PNP program and University of Colorado and created an opportunity for Americans to receive health care from advanced practice registered nurses.  Dr. Ford and other educators at University of Colorado created a pathway for professional nursing to advanced their careers with advanced clinical and scientific programs.  The first NP program was a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program and expansion in the late 60's and 70's additional programs and expanding scopes of practice for NP's was developed.  Read the Full Story.
